Purchasing a home with a well (Well Inspections)!

When purchasing a home, a home inspection can tell you a lot about the little problems that may exist with the property. However, a home inspector will not be able to tell you much about the well. The State of Colorado has mandated that only a water well driller or pump installer can perform work on a water well and thus the reason for home inspectors not being able to tell you much about the well.

As a service to well owners in La Plata, Archuleta, and Montezuma Counties; DAK Well Service and Drilling has been performing well inspections for 30+ years. We offer a number of different options for a well inspection. The list of services we offer follows:

  • Well Inspection - A visual inspection of the well head, pressure tanks, cistern, and any filtration.

  • Test Pump (7 hour and 12 hour)

    • Test pumping will give you an indication of the sustainable pumping volume the well is capable of providing. This is the only test that will give you this information.

    • A 7 hour test is generally sufficient for determining the sustainable pumping rate of a well for a residential property purchase. La Plata County will sometimes require a 12 hour test pump for subdividing a property or using one well for more than one dwelling.

Water Quality Testing

  • We offer a variety of water quality testing options. Please see our website for the list of those tests. We pull these from the well head and will test as much or as little as you desire.
